🎙 FREE INSIDE AT WORK: The Cost of Fitting In and How To Stop Paying It

"Putting the hoops back on." That's how Dr. Laurie Vázquez Scolari describes what it took to stop shrinking herself at work. 💪🏼

As a first-gen Latina and Vice President at a community college, she spent years changing how she talked, dressed, and led just to feel like she belonged, until a wake-up call showed her exactly what that was costing her.

Join us Wednesday, September 23rd at 10 AM PDT for a Cura Chat with Laurie on The Cost of Fitting In and How to Stop Paying It. 🎙

Laurie is the author of Free Inside at Work 📚, a memoir and guide built around her Liberation Framework: Recognize, Release, Reclaim, Rise. This is her roadmap for reclaiming who you are without blowing up your life or pretending the cost wasn't real.

Drawing on her own story growing up in the Salinas Valley as the first in her family to go to college, she's built her career since around helping people show up as themselves in rooms that weren't built with them in mind.

In this conversation, we'll dive into:

1️⃣ Code-switching isn't the problem. Moving between languages, cultures, and versions of yourself throughout the day is just part of life.

2️⃣ Losing yourself is. The slow shift from being fully who you are to becoming smaller, quieter, easier to digest, until you don't recognize what's left.

3️⃣ What pushes us there. Classism, stereotypes, culture shock: the unspoken pressures that make shrinking feel like the only option.

4️⃣ Finding your way back. Laurie's Liberation Framework as a place to start. 🌱

📅 Join us on September 23 at 10:00am PDT / 1:00pm EDT!

A Career Accelerator for Every Student What I'm thinking about... Hi Reader, For a long time, there was a map. 🗺 Get good grades, earn the degree, and a job would be waiting. Employers supplied the ladder. Your school supplied the credential. Your job was to show up, do the work, and let the magic GPA number speak for you. If that map has felt broken to you lately, you are not imagining it. It is broken. What the numbers say Recent college graduates now have a higher unemployment rate than...

I’m first-gen, my parents are Latino immigrants, and when it came time to apply, they couldn’t help me navigate the system....
